Tracey Hopper received her B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1990. She was a Jefferson Scholar and held leadership roles in Madison House, a University service organization. She worked as social worker in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area for several years in the areas of domestic violence, infant education, mental health, substance abuse, and child abuse investigation.

She received her law degree from the University of Virginia Law School in 1996, where she served as co-editor of the Journal of Public Policy and the Law and received the Ritter Award for public service. She was a founding member of Piedmont Court-Appointed Special Advocates (PCASA). She sat on the Albemarle County Planning Commission from 2000 to 2003.
Prior to founding the law firm of the Family Law Offices of Tracey C. Hopper, LLC, Ms. Hopper was associated with the law firms of Parker, McElwain & Jacobs, PC, and Tremblay & Smith, PLLC, concentrating primarily in the area of family law.
Ms. Hopper has extensive litigation experience in family law, having handled complex property division cases as well as matters related to custody, visitation and support. She is a trained mediator and collaborative law attorney.
Ms. Hopper currently is on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Justice Center, and is a member of the Firms & Services and Pro Bono Committees of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Bar Association. She has presented continuing legal education courses on professionalism and family law related topics.
